Maurice Cheeks

Maurice Cheeks was born September 8, 1956.

Cheeks played 11 of his 15 NBA seasons for Philadelphia, helping the 76ers win the 1983 NBA title.

Known for his unselfish style, Cheeks played in four All-Star Games and earned four consecutive NBA All-Defensive first team selections.

During the 1983 playoffs in which the 76ers lost just once, Cheeks averaged 16.3 points, 7.0 assists and 2.0 steals.

In one of Cheeks' greatest games after leaving the 76ers, he played all 48 minutes for the Knicks in a decisive Game 5 of a first-round playoff series in Boston. He shot 8 of 10 and finished with 21 points, seven assists and three steals.

Cheeks has been head coach for the 76ers, Trail Blazers and Pistons.
